Health Tips for Women of all Ages

There are many health issues that women should be aware of and they should be taking preventative measures to avoid. Many of these issues are specifically woman-centered, such as ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers. However, women also make up more than half of Alzheimer's patients, approximately 3.4 million out of 5.4 million Americans living with this disease. Helping women to know the risks and symptoms of certain woman-specific diseases, as well as preventative and treatment options, is important.

The big cancers that can affect women are uterine cancers: cervical, ovarian, and endometrial. Breast cancer also primarily affects women, though there are cases of male patients diagnosed with breast cancer. These cancers, for the most part, can be prevented, but sometimes your family history is enough to cause the disease.

Cervical cancer can be caught early if you are regularly going to your gynecologist for a pap smear. You should also consider quitting smoking if you do smoke, or avoiding secondhand smoke if you do not. Cigarettes have been linked to the development of many cancers, and besides the obvious ones like lung and mouth cancer, they do also cause cervical cancer. You may want to consider also getting the HPV vaccine if you are under 27 years of age.

Ovarian cancer is one of the more frustrating diseases to diagnose because there are no effective screening tests and no one really knows what causes it. Taking Fenretidine, which is a synthetic form of Vitamin A, might help to protect women against ovarian cancer as well as breast cancer, but there are not enough scientific studies that prove this to be an absolute. Your best bet, sadly, is to have your ovaries surgically removed. This may not rule out your chances of getting ovarian cancer entirely, but it is the most commonly recommended solution for patients who are high risk because of their family history.

Endometrial cancer's cause is also unknown, and unfortunately, this is also the most common type of cancer within the uterine area. High levels of estrogen seem to be a factor in whether a woman develops this disease. Also, if you have diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), have never been pregnant, or are infertile, your risk factor increases. To help prevent endometrial cancer, you should try exercising, changing your diet to introduce soy-based foods, and if you still are able, getting pregnant and breastfeeding.

Alzheimer's disease is a sad and difficult disease to deal with. Imagine losing your memories of those you love. It can be upsetting to know there may be nothing you can do to prevent its onset; thankfully, there are a few things that may help. Regular exercise 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes can diminish your risk factor. You should also consider changing your diet to include heart-healthy foods such as salmon and tuna, and excluding red meat and fried foods. Try adding in a few cups of green or white tea as well. Getting a quality amount of sleep is beneficial in all cases, but most especially when attempting to prevent Alzheimer's. Work on reducing stress in all areas of your life, and stay as active as possible.

Cervical Cancer Prevention With Whey Protein Powder Supplements

Cervical cancer is the third most common type of cancer in world-wide. It is more common in United States because of Pap Smears. A cancer which start in cervix, the lower part of womb which opens at the top of vagina.

In Cervical Cancer, abnormal mass of tissues results in neoplasia in which tumor become worse and results in death. They start in the cell on surface of cervix. There are mostly two types of cells are on cervix: squamous and columnar.Mostly cervical cancer arises in squamous cells.

Cervical cancer progress very slowly. This condition called dysplasia. This condition can be detected by Pap smear and because of that the cases of cervical cancer becomes down since last 10-20 years. While some of the cases cannot be prevented, so here are some guidance to prevent it for the women:

Go For Regular Pap smear

Pap smear is the best and primer defense to detect it before it will convert in cancer. Pap smear which is generally called precautionary test is a screening test to check and find out pre-cancerous process easily.

Stay away from the smoking And Second hand smoking

Smoking the cigarettes can increase the possibility of many kinds of cancers including cervical cancer. It can accelerate the HPV infection and accelerate cervical dysplasia too. So you must have to stay away from the smoking and have to stop your habit.

Do follow-up with Abnormal Pap smear

Abnormal Pap smear does not mean that you have cancer but it's a one kind of alarm that you have the infection of abnormal cells which called dysplasia. Do regular follow-up with Pap smear to prevent from cervical because dysplasia can occur in cervical cancer.

Increase your nutrients intake

If you boost up your intake of folic acids, flavonoids and carotenoids than it will not only fight with HPV infection but also prevent you from it and mostly we can see that cancer occur due to human papillomavirus.

Boost up Antioxidants

Antioxidants play a vital role to block the cervical cancer. HTV is the main reason to build up a this cancer, it can't produce itself much. Cancer may be raise because of oxidative stress and the lack of the antioxidants, vitamin E and Q 10 in women. Boosting up the Antioxidants can resist the HTV.

Include Resveratrol

From the Antioxidants, polyphenol is the key to resist the cell of cancer and you will find them from the resveratrol. And for that, taking supplement is the best solution. An MRI Experience: The Frustration of Unnecessary, Confusing and Incomplete Instructions!

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. I needed this test to determine the extent of my uterine cancer. My recent learning experience with having an MRI reinforced the importance of giving meaningful, clear and complete instructions.

1. Unnecessary Instructions

My appointment instructions explicitly told me to wear pants without any metal attachments. Okay, that was no problem. All I had to do was wear pants with an elastic waist instead of a zipper. Unfortunately, I overlooked the second requirement until I had my snow boots, winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves on. Apparently, I was also supposed to wear pants without pockets.

This created some stress on my part. Who owns pants without pockets? I certainly don't! Actually, what is the point of pants that have no pockets?

Once we got to the hospital, there was no problem. They handed me pajama bottoms to wear. I guess I was one in a long line of patients who were not pocketless pant owners!

This begs the question- why give those pants instructions at all? A good rule of thumb for hospitals, trainers and life itself is to avoid giving unnecessary instructions!

2. Confusing Instructions

The instructions on the bottle of prescription sedatives indicated that two sedatives should be taken 30 minutes before the MRI and another two sedatives should be taken 30 minutes after the MRI.

Taking them beforehand made perfect sense. I am claustrophobic and the idea of lying completely enclosed for an hour gave me great concern, to say the least. The sedatives were intended to take the edge off and enable me to relax and stay still.

However, I couldn't imagine why I would need to take two more sedatives after the MRI. Would there be post-traumatic stress from the MRI experience? Was this a clever intervention intended to distract me and minimize my ability to think clearly and ask anxious questions after the procedure?

Who knows? I still don't know, because no one at the hospital could explain the need for post MRI sedation and I personally felt no need for it.

Let's add confusing instructions to the list of things to avoid. Instructions should contribute to clarity rather than confusion.

3. Incomplete Instructions

While some instructions are meaningless or simply confusing, some don't go far enough.

If a patient takes a sedative, the hospital insists on having someone else drive a patient to and from the MRI. However, they say nothing about the length of time it will take before the patient can safely resume driving.

Because I asked the question, I learned that the sedatives I had taken would impair my mental capacity and motor coordination for 6-10 hours! Unfortunately, this information was not printed anywhere or volunteered by any medical personnel. If I hadn't asked the question, I would never have known the answer.

I had errands to run that afternoon. I could easily have been a danger to myself or to others on the road if I had hopped into my car once I got back from the hospital. Luckily, since I knew that I was incapacitated, my driver kindly took me on those errands.

This seems like a significant oversight in the instructions department, don't you think? If anything deserves to be crystal clear, it should be medical instructions.

However, in the hospital staff's defense, it is probably so obvious to them that sedation takes a long time to wear off, they assume that anyone would know this. As a general rule, it is best to avoid making assumptions.

Life daily provides new lessons to learn. Lessons relating to health and safety can be anxiety-ridden and difficult enough without the added stress and frustration of poor instructions. First do no harm!

Even if you are not a health professional, regardless of the situation, when you give instructions, please make sure that they are necessary, clear and complete.

Six Tips for a More Comfortable MRI Experience

The purpose of my MRI was to determine the extent of my uterine cancer prior to surgery. Regardless of the reason why you need an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) test, following these six tips will definitely make your experience more comfortable. I wish that I had known them before my own MRI.

1. Bring Your Own Music.

The MRI is incredibly loud and noisy! At various times, it sounds like a jackhammer is drilling right next to your head, a truck is backing up (next to your head), a car is having major difficulty starting, or you are going through a car wash without the benefit of a car!

Because of the noise, you are given earphones and offered a choice of music. I requested calm, lyrical classical music. The music I got was better suited to a parade than a nap. It wasn't exactly Beethoven's 9th Symphony, but it was just as energetic. This must was definitely not conducive to relaxation. When I complained, they gave me classical piano music, which was also much too vigorous.

My final choice was to have no music. However, in the future, should I ever need another MRI, I plan to bring my own CD!

2. Take a Sedative.

Regardless of the body part being scanned, your entire body will have to go into the tubular MRI. A sedative is a good idea, even if you're not claustrophobic. It is probably quite difficult to lie perfectly still for 40-60 minutes without a sedative!

3. Cover Your Eyes.

I had planned to keep my eyes closed the entire time (which I did). As an added precaution, they gave me a dry washcloth to put over my eyes- just in case I might inadvertently open my eyes. My advice- keep your eyes closed and take the washcloth as an added protection!

4. Bring Warm Socks.

The room was very cold, so I asked for two blankets. Even wearing my own socks and covered by the blankets, my feet were icy cold. So another good idea is to bring or wear some very warm socks!

5. Schedule for the Beginning of the Week.

My MRI was on a Friday before a three-day weekend, so I had to wait even longer for the radiologist to review and post the results of my test. If you have a choice, schedule your MRI for the beginning of the week. That way, you greatly increase the probability that you will get the results before the end of the week.

6. Borrow Patience!

It occurs to me is that we are called "patients" because we have to have a lot of "patience," no matter how stress inducing the wait for results may be.

The stress of having to wait probably explained my continual post-MRI craving for chocolate and carbohydrates! You may give in to the same cravings, but you'll learn what I discovered- that nothing you eat will really satisfy and fill that empty anxious place.

If you're lucky, your MRI staff will be competent, courteous and caring. My MRI staff certainly were. And if you take some of these suggestions to heart, your MRI experience should be as comfortable as possible.

Most Common and Effective Complex Ovarian Cyst Treatments

Complex ovarian cyst treatment is a complex process. This is because the condition is deemed to be stressful for women. These are fluid-filled pouches which develop in or outside the woman's ovary. In most cases, it is benign. However, around 15% have been found to be malignant.

Information on Ovarian Cyst
Information on complex ovarian cyst can be illustrated based on the occurrence inside the woman ovary. What happens is that during ovulation period, hormones are produced by the ovary to promote follicle growth and production of eggs. Once the egg is ready, the follicle raptures to release eggs from the ovary. When it doesn't do this, most likely it will result to cyst.

Treatment
First, what you need to do is to consult the doctor whether you indeed have complex ovarian cyst. Remember that only the doctor has the right knowledge and equipment to diagnose the condition. You should be aware of the common symptoms of complex ovarian cysts such as nausea, irregular bleeding, vaginal discharge, and fullness.

Second, treatment should be examined every two to three months to see whether or not the cyst has grown in size or not. If the cyst is smaller than 2 inches, then doctor may not opt to remove it just yet. Also, women nearing their menopausal period are advised to wait before invasive treatments are executed.

Third cyst treatment that the doctor usually prescribes is the intake of birth control pills. Taking of birth control pills has shown that it reduces the cyst size itself. Also, it can hinder the condition to turn into ovarian cancer. You should know what type of pill is best for you in the market.

Another treatment to consider is laparoscopy which is used to diagnose and treat the cyst at its early stage. This is a simple procedure that will remove the cyst in a painless manner.

Lastly, cystectomy is advised as a treatment which means the removal of ovary. This is considered as the last resort in case the condition worsens. Because of that, complex ovarian cyst treatment should be done properly to avoid resulting to major surgeries.

How to Detect and Prevent Cervical Cancer

Thanks to widespread screening, the incidence of cervical cancer has decreased significantly. Pre-cancer lesions can be detected and removed before they become malignant. In 2010, approximately 12,200 patients are estimated to be diagnosed with cervical cancer in the United States. An estimated 4,210 will die of this disease.

Screening tests include either conventional Pap smear or liquid cytology, with or without HPV (human papilloma virus) DNA test. The current recommendations from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for normal-risk women are as follows:

1) Pap smear to start at age 21
2) < 30 years of age: every 2 years
3) > 30 years of age: every 3 years
4) Stop screening at age 65-70, after 3 normal tests during the last 10 years.

Screening is more frequent for high risk women. High risk conditions include previous cervical cancer, exposure to DES (diethylstilbestrol) as a fetus, and immunocompromised conditions (by organ transplantation drug, chemotherapy, steroids, or HIV). Please keep in mind that the screening recommendations above apply to "asymptomatic" patients. If you think that you have new symptoms, such as abnormal bleeding, unusual heavy discharge, pelvic pain, pain during urination, etc, discuss with your doctor.

With the recent development of vaccines, cervical cancer is now also a potentially preventable disease. The American Cancer Society recommends HPV vaccination for girls starting at age 11 up to 18. It is not yet clear whether vaccination for the age range of 19-26 is beneficial or not. The Gardasil vaccine prevents infection of four strains of HPV. Strains 16 and 18 cause 70% of cervical cancer cases and strains 6 and 11 cause 90% of genital warts cases. The Cervarix vaccine protects against HPV strains 16 and 18. Neither vaccine offers absolute prevention of all types of cervical cancer-causing HPV. Therefore, vaccinated women should still see their health care provider for routine cervical cancer screening. It should be noted that recently the FDA also approved the use of HPV vaccination for boys and men ages 9-26 for the prevention of genital warts.

Cure Cervix Cancer With Some Recommended Natural Treatments

Finding a cure for cervix cancer means that you have to first learn the basics, if you don't even know what a cervix is, here is the short version. It is the narrow necklike passage forming the lower end of the uterus. It basically joins the uterus and the birth canal. Cervical cancer is a slow-developing malignant cancer.

Cervical cancer is primarily caused by HPV (human papillomavirus). This is mainly distributed around through sexual intercourse with multiple partners. The reason it is very slow-growing is that the virus can survive inside the individual for many years before the cancerous cells begin to develop, and fortunately for some, it never does. The main reason that the cancer cells never develop in some individuals, who have had the virus for many years, is because they are in very good health and their immunity system is very formidable.

So if you don't have the disease yet, the best way of preventing it is by establishing a formidable immunity system through healthy diet, exercise, and other things you can do to maintain this.

But if you are now looking to cure cervix cancer because it already developed in your cells, then don't lose hope. There is still a way for you to be healed, although it is not the "normal" way the world sees as treatment.

For centuries, botanical and Chinese remedies have been proven to heal cancer and other diseases thought of to be irreversible. This may sound extreme, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Here are a few suggestions to cure cervix cancer:

1. A healthy diet would go a long way to cure cervix cancer. Canned foods, foods that have preservatives, artificial sugars, and even most cooked food should be prohibited. Avoid animal proteins as much as possible; this includes all kinds of meat, dairy and poultry products.

2. Lots of fruits, vegetables of all kinds, anything herbal, legumes; even freshly-squeezed juices go a long way to build the immune system.

3. Apricot seeds contain the vitamin B17 which is essential to help you cure cervix cancer as this kills cancerous cells without harming your uninfected cells.

4. Tea and ginger are universally accepted as both a builder of strong immune systems and also a great substitute for artificially-sweetened drinks. They help rinse out the toxins in the body that speed up the growth of cancerous cells.

There are many other natural cure for cervix cancer and other types of cancers. We just have to be diligent and research them.

Treatment Options For Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is said to be a silent killer because the symptoms are similar to many common ailments such as indigestion, urinary and bladder problems as well as lower back pain. As a result the symptoms are often overlooked and the cancer is not detected until it has reached a deadly stage.

Only about 20 percent of ovarian cancers are detected before it has begun to spread past the ovaries where it begins. When detected at an early enough stage, the cancer is treatable with both conventional and natural treatments.

Conventional Treatments. The standard conventional treatments that are used to treat ovarian cancer are surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. The stage of the cancer will determine which treatment is suitable.

The type of surgery depends on how far the cancer has spread. The patient may have one or both ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, as well as the uterus, cervix and the omentum. The omentum is a layer of fat tissues that lines the abdomen and helps to support the abdominal organs.

Chemotherapy is a drug that can be taken orally or be injected directly into the bloodstream, organs or close to the affected area to stop the growth or the spreading of cancer. Again, the type of chemotherapy depends on how far the cancer has spread.

Radiation can be administered both internally or externally, and both are designed to kill off cancerous cells. When administered externally a machine is used to radiate the affected area. When administered internally, the radioactive material is placed near the affected area with needles or tubes known as catheters.

Natural Treatments. Due to the high death rate and negative side effects of conventional medicine, many are turning to more natural ways to treat their cancer. There have been many reports of patients who have been healed with natural medicines and home remedies.

The Gerson Therapy is located in Tijuana Mexico, and it has been very effective in helping many cancer patients make a full recovery from their disease. The main method of treatment involves freshly squeezed fruit and vegetables juices. This helps the body to eliminate harmful toxins that promote the growth of cancerous cells.

Ginger root, green tea and foods high in vitamin B17 have been found to be effective in destroying cancerous cells. Vitamin B17 can be found in the seeds of apricots, apples, chia and flax, as well as in cranberries, raspberries and strawberries, alfalfa, beans and grains.

Vitamin D and selenium can help to stop the growth of cancerous cells. Vitamin D can be obtained naturally through sun exposure, and selenium is found in most nuts with a significant amount in Brazil nuts and cashews. Selenium is also found in sunflower seeds, dates, bananas, mangoes, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, peas, mushrooms and coconuts.

Adding these foods to the diet will not only help to fight cancer, but they can also help to prevent cancer from developing in the first place.

The Truth Behind Ovarian Cancer

Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality in this world.  It is being feared by most people.  Once an individual has it, it will stay with him till his last breath.  It is hard to accept that your family member, your friend or even you have cancer.  The pain and the sadness are hard to bear especially when no one is there to support and comfort you.  A cancer patient needs to remain strong, determined to stay healthy and fight for the dreaded disease and this can all be possible if he has a strong support group.

There are so many types of cancer that we need to know about the same as knowing the different tazer guns for sale in the market if you want to give yourself extra protection.  It can either be acquired genetically or from living a sedentary lifestyle.  Being a chain smoker leads to the development of lung cancer. Drinking too much alcoholic beverages leads to liver cancer.  Intake of carcinogenic foods such as barbeque may cause colon cancer.  Stress is even one major cause of cancer.  If you will not become vigilant particularly to your health, there is a great chance that you will develop cancer.

Both men and women have distinct types of cancer due to the differences of the reproductive organs.  Men can develop prostate cancer while women can develop ovarian cancer and breast cancer.  It is important that men and women pay attention to their health, do early detection to prevent cancer the same as having a phone stun gun for your protection against the wrong intentions of criminals.  Cancer still has no treatment and if you do not want to suffer, make sure that you live a healthy lifestyle.

Talking about the types of cancer in women, ovarian cancer has been the most common deadly type of gynecologic cancer.  It is the fifth most frequent cause of cancer death in women.  This type of cancer is rarely diagnosed early because of its insidious growth and relative inaccessibility and thus, most patients present with an advanced stage of the disease.  The incidence of ovarian cancer is increased in older women.  Factors which lead to the higher incidence of this disease include nulliparity, infertility, marked dysmenorrhea, early menopause and irradiation of pelvic organs.

Ovarian cancer may produce some early clinical findings that if recognized, should lead your physician to a relatively early diagnosis.  The early presenting symptoms are those that physicians vaguely associate with gastrointestinal disorders such as dyspepsia, early satiety and bloating.  Patients having an advanced stage of ovarian cancer may complain about pelvic pressure and fullness accompanied by urinary frequency and constipation.

There is increased in abdominal girth due to weight gain but is usually due to ascites or a mass rising out of the pelvis. A complete physical examination is done with emphasis on abnormal changes in the breasts, abdomen and the pelvic area.  Careful bimanual and rectovaginal examinations are performed.

Treatment of this type of cancer is based on the clinical evaluation, the stage of the disease and the overall condition of the cancer patient.  Combination therapy is compromised of surgery, radiation therapy or chemotherapy.  It is important for the patient to strictly comply to all of these therapies in order to properly manage the disease.

The management of any types of cancer does not necessarily mean that it will sure the disease but rather they are intended to alleviate the pain and the other symptoms that the cancer victim is experiencing.  We all should be very vigilant and pay attention to health because seriously, health is a very precious wealth.

Discover Some Cervical Cancer Treatment Options

Like so many other organs in the body, the cervix can develop cancer. Unlike the others, it is the second-most prone to develop them, next to breast cancer. Cervical cancer doesn't develop quickly. In fact, it can develop very slowly that the individual doesn't even know it is there until they go for a screening or a physical exam. Since this is very prone to females, it is critical that we talk about different cervical cancer treatment options.

The most accepted way the medical industry treats cervical cancer is through hysterectomy. It is the surgical procedure to remove the uterus. If the cancer is already in the advanced stages, removal of the lymph nodes may prove to be a necessity. This type of treatment is most females worst nightmare as it removes their capability to give birth.

Fortunately, there are other, more gentle ways to treat cervical cancer, and keep the maternal capabilities intact. And for those women that want to stay fertile, there are a few cervical cancer treatment options they may opt to choose.

One of the more established process is the LEEP or loop electrosurgical excision procedure. The benefits include it being on the inexpensive side, a highly successful rate of treatment, doesn't require major surgery, and uses only local anesthesia and can be done in the doctor's office.

Another procedure is the cone biopsy. This surgical process includes removing only the cone-shaped samples from the mucous membrane, and then radiation therapy is applied.

If the cone biopsy doesn't work positively, the next step will be to do trachelectomy. This procedure involves the surgeon trying to remove only area that is cancerous while maintaining the integrity of the uterus and the ovaries. Though, this can only be done if the cervical cancer hasn't scattered to the other regions of the uterus. One disadvantage with this is that there are only a few qualified specialists that are expert enough to perform this complicated and intricate process.

There are also more traditional options:

Radiation Therapy - This is done by applying an external beam to the pelvis. It can even be done internally through a procedure called brachytherapy.

Chemotherapy - This is the most popular and most widely used procedure across all kinds of cancer.

The most important thing to remember when looking for various cervical cancer treatment options is that there is always a possibility that the ability to have children in the future will be compromised.

Treatments and Signs of Cervical Cancer

For a layman, the easiest definition of cervical cancer is that it is a cancer of cervix (the opening of the uterus that is connected to the vagina). This cancer, like all other cancers, has different stages. During the initial stage, the cells transform into something and this process is known as dysplasia. Abnormal cells take formation in the cervix and then they begin to multiply and spread in the area. It is one of the commonest types of cancers that attack females.

Signs of Cervical Cancer

It should be remembered that noticeable symptoms may occur only after the cancer reaches its dangerous stage. Following are some of the commonly noticeable signs that may occur:

-Pain during sexual intercourse or pain in the pelvic region
-Bleeding from vagina between periods
-Discharge from vagina, which is not normal
-Menstrual cycle extension in terms of duration and even heavy periods
-Bleeding after the menopause

Some of the Possible Treatments

These treatments can only help if the cancer is diagnosed at an early stage.

If not much damage has been done, then doctors focus on removing that area where the abnormal cell growth has occurred. This can be done through a number of latest scientific ways such as laser surgery, loop electrosurgical excision procedure, cone biopsy, and cryosurgery.

If the cancer has grown much and is invasive, then the treatment and its duration will depend on the stage when it is detected. Some of the options include radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hysterectomy.

Prevention

-Avoid HPV infection by not forming any sexual contact with the infected person
-HPV vaccination can offer a great prevention from this cancer
-Use routine PAP test to diagnose it at its earliest (this should be done frequently after you turn 21 years of age).

The Complications of Ovarian Cancer

The ovaries are truly one of nature's most beautiful and mind-boggling developments. They produce the ovum that eventually results in the miracle of human life. But, as with any part of the body that is complicated and involves multiple processes (and really, which parts don't?), the ovaries are vulnerable to cancerous growths.

Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer in women, claiming around 15,000 lives every year. It develops primarily on the outer wall of the ovaries, known as the epithelium, but can appear in other regions as well. There is no definite cause of the disease, but there are certain identifiable risk factors.

Women who develop ovarian cancer usually share certain characteristics. The most well-documented of these has to do with pregnancy. Women who have their first pregnancy relatively earlier, and who become pregnant more often, and who have their last pregnancy at a later date, are all more likely to live a cancer-free life than women on the other end of this spectrum. It is unknown precisely by what mechanism this takes place. Some birth control pills have also been shown to prevent the cancer, if they are taken on a regular, long-term basis.

As with almost all forms of cancer, it is more likely to appear in people who have a family history of either ovarian cancer, or other forms of non-skin or blood cancers, for example colorectal cancer. Along with this difficulty in predicting who will suffer from the disease is the fact that its symptoms are generalized and relatively vague. Conditions that resemble gastrointestinal difficulties-indigestion, bloating, constipation, diarrhea-may be common across ovarian cancer victims. There are other symptoms, many of which could very well be mistaken for normal conditions of female physiology.

Due to the difficulty with diagnosing this disease in the earlier stages, it is often referred to as the silent killer. A term that references the fact that the disease, before it is detected, is likely to progress to the point where treatment is not very effective. It is not hopeless, however. There are some proven ways to prevent onset of ovarian cancer even though we don't know its exact cause. Having children earlier in life is one tactic, though this is exactly the opposite trend that we see amongst educated women today.

Another tactic is to have one's tubes tied. This procedure, known as a tubal ligation, dramatically reduces the chances of getting breast cancer, and it may be an especially good choice for women who have a family history of cancer. Less dramatic methods include daily consumption of birth control pills, or even aspirin (which has been shown to help, but the exact level of benefit is undetermined).

All in all we need to do more as a society to fight this silent killer. With many women waiting to have their children until their later years, it seems that it is even more important now than before to investigate the disease thoroughly.

Life Is What Happens When You Make Other Plans

A not so funny thing happened to me on my way to planning my international travels. I was diagnosed with early uterine cancer.

In the space of a few days, my life and my focus were dramatically reframed. So now, instead of getting visas and packing for Jordan and Nigeria, I'm getting medical tests and preparing for surgery.

I'm also learning a lot- about myself, about my family, and about my friends.

First of all, I've learned that my body's defensive response to devastating news is to get so sick that all that I can do is eat, read and sleep. That's how I spent the holidays. Luckily, the Christmas tree is beautiful and my cats have been happy to keep my lap warm when I sit in my rocking chair to read.

Second, as I take practical steps- to cancel my trip, to plan for work absences, to create a back up strategy if my recovery takes longer than anticipated- I realize that I am operating on automatic pilot. My emotions must be packed away with my passport. The cancer is a reality, the operation is a necessity, and everything else seems to fade in significance.

Third, I am making sure to keep breathing. That sounds funny, I know. But a new friend insists that I keep breathing and focus on healing. Oh, and eat a lot of deep green leafy vegetables. I'm doing very well on two of those three imperatives.

My family has been wonderful. Three of my brothers and one sister-in-law have all offered to leave their busy lives to be with me. My mother has asked about what she can do, since she no longer travels. My cousins have sent love and light, keeping me in their prayers. My daughter has piloted me through the maze of the University of Wisconsin Hospital, getting me to all of the various tests and appointments. My son has given me reassuring hugs.

My friends have also rallied, sending best wishes and offers of help. Even people I have only recently started to work with and get to know have offered to drive me to appointments or to sit and talk over coffee.

There is also a strong and supportive virtual community of Hystersisters who share great advice based on their personal experiences. As a result, I know what to expect, how to plan and where to go when I need answers or moral support. Since it is a worldwide organization, there are loving women awake and available at the touch of a keyboard no matter the time of day or night.

I am so very lucky. Technological advances can make this surgery as minimally invasive as possible. I have a kind and very experienced doctor and medical team. I know that I am in good hands.

At this time when I could feel most alone, instead I am nestled in the warmth of loving wisdom and concern.

I don't know what is in store for me. I don't know why this health issue is happening right now. I'm not sure what I am supposed to learn from this. Perhaps that the spirit is incredibly strong and resilient? That love and tenderness surround us? That this lifelong loner is not now, has never really been, and will never be alone.

If we are all angels learning to be human, than this is a most human experience. An MRI on Friday the 13th will reveal the extent of the cancer. Hopefully, we are catching it early before it has had time to spread. Regardless of the MRI findings, my surgery will be two weeks later on the 26th. My children and my brother will be with me- and my family and friends will be on call.

They tell me that, if all goes well, the surgery will be conducted robotically and I'll be able to go home the very next day. And if the cancer is localized, that surgery will be all that I need.

That is my hope and my prayer. Now I let go and let God.

Thank you for being part of my journey.

Prevent Cervical Cancer - Visit Your Gynecologist Doctor

Pap smears are tests of a sample of cells that are taken from a female's cervix. A pap smear is used to look for a change in the cells that show cancer or conditions that may become cancer. Bear in mind that cervical cancer can be cured when it is detected early by your gynecologist doctor.

So, when should women get pap smears done? Pap screen testing should start when women reach the age of 21 and every two years after that for women who are between the ages of 21 and 29. For women who are 30 years old or older, who have had 3 consecutive normal test results, testing can be administered every 3 years.

Are pap smear tests painful? Pap smear tests are not painful, but the exam may be a little uncomfortable for some women.

Remember that you should never get a pap smear when you are on your period. Instead, you should wait 10 to 20 days after the first day of your period.

If your doctor informed you that your test results are abnormal, that does not mean that you have cervical cancer; there may be a small problem with your cervix. However, sometimes abnormal cells develop into cancer. Usually, these unhealthy cells go away on their own. If you treat these unhealthy cells, you may prevent cervical cancer.

After you get a pap smear done, it will take about 3 weeks before you receive the test results. If you have not heard from your physician's office after a few weeks, call them to see if they have your results.

Women with risk factors such as having HIV or a weakened immune system due to organ transplant, chemotherapy, or chronic steroid use should be screened more often.

Bear in mind that when cervical cancer is present, a common symptom is abnormal bleeding. Bleeding can start and stop between menstrual periods or it may start after douching or having sexual intercourse. Vaginal discharge may also be present. If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should consult with a doctor. Remember that pain is never an early warning sign of cervical cancer.

If you need to get a pap smear testing, you will need to find a viable gynecologist doctor. You can find a good one by visiting websites that review them online. Before you choose a gynecologist doctor, make a list of such doctors in your area and contact them. Make appointments to meet with them in person and ask questions. Find out what their office hours are, if they accept your health insurance plan, etc. If you do enough research, you will find the best one for your needs.

A gynecologist doctor can help women with problems specific to female help. To either find or review a good one, please see the following: http://www.angieslist.com/

Ovarian Cancer Symptoms

Ovarian cancer is a difficult to diagnose disease simply because the symptoms are so similar to many common ailments and other diseases. Medical professionals did not realize this for many years, and thus they were unable to detect the cancer at an early stage.

Ovarian Cancer Symptoms

The symptoms of ovarian cancer include digestive problems such as feeling full, bloating, gas, nausea and constipation. Bladder disorders such as the need to urinate frequently, inconsistent menstrual cycles, lower back pain, pelvic pain and pain during intercourse are all symptoms as well. These symptoms are often common among women, and thus when they arise they are often ignored until it is too late.

The best way to determine whether or not these are ovarian cancer symptoms or just symptoms of a common ailment is to take note of how long they persist. If they are the result of a common ailment they will disappear within a few days to a week. However, if they are the result of cancer cells, then they will linger around and gradually become worse as time goes on.

Medical help should be sought immediately at the first sign of the cancer so that the growth can be halted.

Who is at Risk?

Ovarian cancer can affect women of all ages, but it mainly affects older women who have gone through menopause. The risk increases with age, but some studies show that the hormone replacement therapy that is administered during menopause may play a role in the development of the cancer.

According to studies, the formation of the cancer may also be related to higher levels of estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone that is produced during ovulation, as well as by fat cells. Thus those who are obese or overweight, and began menstruating at an early age, or stopped menstruating at a later age are at a higher risk.

Treatments

Ovarian cancer is highly treatable with natural remedies as well as with conventional treatments if diagnosed early enough. The conventional methods of treatments for ovarian cancer are the standard treatments such as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. However the type of treatment a patient will receive depends largely on how far the cancer has spread.

There are also many natural ways to treat the cancer. The Gerson Therapy is widely known to naturally help cure all types of cancers with fresh fruit and vegetable juices. These juices are high in antioxidants that help to flush out the harmful toxins that contribute to the formation of cancer cells. Thus drinking lots of freshly squeezed juices and eating raw foods high in antioxidants and other essential nutrients can help to prevent cancer from forming in the first place.

Myoma - What Every Woman Should Know

What is Myoma?

Myomas are non cancerous tumors that are commonly found in the uterus. It is a condition that affects almost 75% of women, especially women in their 30's and 40's.

Just last month, I was experiencing abdominal pains and headaches, so I decided to consult my doctor. The doctor did a couple of tests, CT scans, and found multiple cysts in my uterus. Hearing the word "tumor", I got scared, because the condition was very new to me and my family. The doctor was kind enough to let me know the details. According to him, uterine tumors or myomas are completely normal in women after giving birth. They tend to grow during the reproductive years, due to the boost in estrogen levels. I calmed down knowing that these tumors are actually not cancerous.

There are different treatments for myoma, some doctors prescribe only medicines. In my case, the doctor recommended surgery because the tumors were causing discomfort and occasional pain. Personally, I prefer not to have surgery if there is an alternative. But anyway, I trust my doctor, so I went on to have Myomectomy. Prior to the surgery, I was required to eat healthy foods, and was not allowed to eat at least 8 hours before the operation. While the preparation was hard enough, the actual operation ran smoothly. I was given anesthesia and it was very quick. I did not feel a thing. I was always the weak type, but just after 2 days, I was able to get up and I felt a lot better, as if nothing happened. The operation was a total success and I thank my doctor for the excellent job.

I think that uterine tumors are very common to us women, and we must face it eventually. So if you think you have Myoma, please consult your doctor immediately. It is not really something you must be afraid of. Just remember to choose your doctor with care. Having a good doctor will ensure you a quick and smooth recovery.

Ovarian Cancer: Symptoms, Risk Factors and How to Detect It

Today I will talk about a killer to many women. This is one of the cancers that threaten women's life because in many cases it is asymptomatic

Let's talk in brief about the "ovaries". The ovaries are glands present on the sides of the uterus. The ovary has 2 functions:

1. To produce hormones (oestrogen and progesterone)

2. During child-bearing period, it releases an egg monthly

After menopause, the ovary ceases to release eggs but continues to produce hormones but at a lower rate. This cancer occurs when cells in the ovary start to multiply and grow rapidly.

In many women who have ovarian cancer, there are no symptoms. And if there are symptoms, they are non-specific.

Symptoms include:

- Abdominal discomfort or fullness
- Dyspepsia
- Pelvic pain
- Constipation
- Back pain

Because the symptoms are non-specific, usually patients present when spread has occurred. That's why it is a "silent killer."

There are risk factors for ovarian cancer, such as:

- Low parity
- Delayed childbearing
- High fat diet

Genetics can play an important role. A gene known as BRCA 1 gene is associated with breast - ovarian cancer syndrome.

Our goal is to detect it as early as possible and that will be by doing a routine yearly pelvic examination in the pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women. Besides a periodic ultrasonography coupled with CA-125 can be used to screen ovarian cancer

Once diagnosed, the treatment options will depend on its type. There are many types of ovarian cancer and each one has it's treatment.

What Are the Symptoms of Uterine Cancer?

Cancer is one of the most dreaded diseases in the world. The body cells start functioning in an abnormal way in the person suffering from cancer and the tumors are formed in the affected area of the body. Breast, ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers are those types of cancers that target only the women as these are related to the female body organs.

If we talk about the uterine cancer, it is in fact related to the very important organ of the female reproductive system called the uterus and usually occurs in the women between the ages of 50 to 70 years. This cancer has different types including uterine sarcomas, endometrial cancer and cervical cancer. Each type affects different parts and tissues of the female uterus e.g. endometrial cancer (also called endometrial carcinoma) is related to the uterus lining or endometrium. The uterine sarcoma (also called leiomyosarcomas) affects the muscular layer of the uterus and cervical cancer is related to the lower portion of the uterus.

Among these types, the endometrial cancer is one that is generally referred to as the uterine cancer. The endometrial cancer is so deadly that it is believed to be the third most common gynecologic cancer (after ovarian and cervical cancers) that causes death to the women.

This cancer usually affects the women after the occurrence of the menopause (the phase in a woman's life when menstrual cycle gets stopped). There are some common symptoms of this cancer though these may differ to some extent from person to person.

The most general symptom of this cancer in a woman is the abnormal vaginal bleeding even after her menopause. However the excessive menstrual bleeding in a woman in her premenopausal period shouldn't be ignored too. The other symptoms include the unusual non-bloody vaginal discharge, lower abdominal pain, abnormal weight loss, difficult and painful urination and an extreme pain during intercourse.

Every woman is needed to know about the basic symptoms of the uterine cancer so that if she finds any of them in herself, she may urgently contact her physician. The importance of seeking the timely medical advice after finding some of these symptoms is very high as it may help to diagnose the uterine cancer at some early stage and you must know that this cancer can be treated effectively at the early stages. Besides, if the endometrial cancer is diagnosed after the full medical check up of a woman, the proper measure can be taken at the right time in order to avoid further complications.

Beating Ovarian Cancer: Knowing the Early Symptoms

The words ovarian cancer strike fear in women of all ages. It is known as a silent disease because early symptoms are often minor or ignored altogether. This cancer forms when irregular tumors are present on one or both of the ovaries. Unfortunately, doctors are still uncertain the exact cause of the disease; however, there are some factors that may heighten the risk.

It has been shown that cancer of the ovaries is genetic, and women with the BRCA1 mutation are at an increased risk. Breast cancer victims are more likely to develop the cancer. Women also become more susceptible as they age. Those who have given birth to at least one child lower the risk of the disease. The good news is that ovarian cancer is very treatable if caught in the early stages.

Although symptoms of ovarian cancer tend to be very mild, it is very important to listen to your body and consult with your doctor if something does not feel right. Catching the cancer early will increase your survival rate. Some of the most common symptoms include bowel and urinary changes. Women might feel the urge to use the restroom very frequently, but are only able to void a small amount. They often feel bloated after eating small meals, and find themselves easily gaining weight. Another very common symptom is pelvic pain, similar to that of an ovarian cyst. Since these symptoms are common to other illnesses, it is important to see your gynecologist for a checkup.

Only your doctor can properly diagnose ovarian cancer. Very often, the diagnosis comes during a routine pelvic exam, when a cyst is felt on the ovary. Using an ultrasound, the structure of the cyst is examined. Most of these cysts are benign and resolve spontaneously; however, some irregular cysts may need to be biopsied. If the cysts are shown to be malignant, then your doctor will discuss further treatment options. This entire process may be scary and stressful; however, most women experience ovarian cysts in their life, and only a handful are cancerous.

Remember, if caught early, the odds of beating ovarian cancer are very high. Over ninety percent of women diagnosed in the early stages will survive past five years. Taking care of your body, through both diet and exercise, can reduce the risk of cancer. It is very important for all women to have yearly exams. Never feel embarrassed to talk to your doctor about changes you might be feeling. They are there to help.

From Jenny Chow: I, like you, suffered through the fear and pain of ovarian cysts. I dreaded the treatment options like surgery, and I sought to learn more about ovarian cysts symptoms and what could be done about it. What I discovered was an unconventional but medically sound treatment involving no surgery that permanently eliminated my cyst pain and healed me of ovarian cyst ruptures. And, the breakthrough technique improved my overall health as well. I'd like to share with you what I learned about this fantastic healing system. Brief Explanation of Ovarian Cancer and It's Lab Test CA-125

Ovarian cancer disease is also known as the silent killer. That is because the disease is usually found when the patient is in the final stages of this cancer. Many women do not know the early warning signs of this cancer. Believe it or not, the American Cancer Society ranks this cancer as the fourth cause of cancer death in women.

What are the ovaries and what do they do?

The ovaries are the internal almond-shaped organs that are located internally on each side of the pelvis. The purpose of the ovaries is to produce eggs on a monthly basis. They are used for the fertilization process, which is pregnancy.

Where does the cancer start?

The tumor starts in one or both of the ovaries. Cancer cells from the original cancer place can spread to other parts of the body.

What are the signs and symptoms I should know?

Abdominal bloating, abdominal pressure, and abdominal painNausea, indigestion, constipation, or diarrheaA loss of appetiteA feeling of being full even after a light mean has been eatenA sudden weight loss or even gain for no apparent reasonUnexplainable vaginal bleedingPain during sexual intercourseFatigue and back aches

**It is best to seek medical attention if these symptoms continue for 2 or more weeks**

Are there women who are at risk for this cancer?

Certain risk factors make some women more at risk. These factors include:

Family history, such as your mother and/or sisterFamily history of breast or colon cancer has also been tied to ovarian cancerWomen over the age of 50 are at a higher risk; and increases even more at age 60 or olderWomen who have never had children are at a higher risk than women who did have childrenIf a woman has a personal history of breast or colon cancer, this puts her at a higher risk to develop ovarian cancer

Is the pap test used to find ovarian cancer?

No, this test is used to screen for cervical cancer.

What tests are used for screening ovarian cancer?

At this point in time, there is no specific screening to detect ovarian cancer.

What tests are used to diagnose this cancer?

If you have experienced any of the symptoms that were previously discussed, see your doctor. Your doctor will examine you by performing a vaginal/rectal examination. Your doctor will then determine if you should receive a pelvic sonogram. The doctor also may order a lab or blood test called CA-125 that also can identify ovarian cancer.

Please, if you have any questions or concerns about this cancer contact your doctor. Remember that when ovarian cancer is found in its early stages the survival rate is much higher. Be aware of these important signs/symptoms. Share this information with as many women as you can.

She Has Three Months To Live

Deep down you know what it is. Deep down, you know it's cancer, but your mind won't allow it to be spoken, somehow. The evening before, I'd received a phone call from the surgeon's secretary. Would I please report to the hospital at lunchtime the following day. Mr. Sullivan would like a word.

For some odd reason, in England, we always call our surgeons 'Mister.' I was ushered into a large, untidy office and given a chair at a large, untidy desk. Mr. Sullivan came striding in, followed closely by a male nurse. I wondered idly about the presence of the nurse, but by that time, Sullivan had seated himself opposite me and leaned his hands, fingers interlocked, on a small mountain of files he'd been carrying.

"Right, Mr. Bond. Your wife has three months."

"Oh! And then she can come home?"

"No, Mr. Bond. She has three months to live. Sorry."

Why he'd bothered to sit down in the first place, I don't know, because he simply gathered his files and cantered out of the room. The nurse hovered. I stood. "Will you be all right, Sir?" "Yes thanks, fine." I went outside into the bright sunshine and felt the tears pushing fiercely against the backs of my eyes.

Don't let go now, old son, I thought. You have to drive home. I managed the short journey and held myself in without too much trouble. I climbed out of the car, went into the house and flung myself down on the sofa. Then boy, did I let rip!

About ten minutes worth of cushion-soaking, though, and I pulled myself together. I was yet to go through the grieving cycle, of course. Far too early for that. All I'd done was to rid myself of the raw shock.

Apart from the knowledge of losing Anne, which was an all-enveloping darkness of spirit, my other great concern was that I'd turn back to the bottle. I went to the doctor, and she gave me some strong antidepressants to be taken as needed. They proved invaluable.

I had to make the usual arrangements for cremation, which was something Anne had insisted upon years before, the Death Certificate and other necessary items. My sister-in-law flew in from Canada, (Anne was Canadian), and she supported me magnificently.

I must admit now that everything's somewhat of a blur. To begin with, this happened over 30 years ago now, and memory has a way of fading the unpleasantness into a sort of oblivion. I went through all the usual grieving steps; deep sorrow, self-pity, anger. I went upstairs to sort Anne's clothes out, but of course the smell of her was upon them, and I simply couldn't continue.

The surgeon gave me his prognosis in May. One August evening I arrived home from work, just as the phone was ringing. It was the hospital, to say that Anne had died. The interesting part about all this is that it hit me like a sledgehammer. I thought I was well prepared after three months, but I wasn't.

There's always a residue of hope...

5 Ovary Cancer Symptoms

Cancer, one of the medical issues that none of us want to think about. There are so many different kinds of cancer and each one can affect everyone in slightly different way. One particular cancer, ovarian cancer, is definitely a more severe type. The Ovary Cancer Symptoms should be known by every woman in order to stay as healthy as possible.

Ovarian cancer, or the silent killer, unfortunately is not diagnosed until the later stages due to the symptoms are usually overlooked or misdiagnosed. This particular cancer usually occurs in women over 50 but can occur during the younger years. As with any type of cancer, the sooner it is discovered, the sooner the proper treatment can be started and the cancer terminated.

1 - Abdominal swelling/bloating - This is a common symptom for a variety of medical conditions therefore this symptom is easily overlooked. It has been reported of lower abdominal discomfort occurs after eating.

2 - Poor Appetite - Most women today have this "symptom". The woman's daily routine can be so hectic that the right foods are not eaten as it is much easier to grab a cheeseburger and fries or simply there is a loss of appetite which again can result from any number of issues occurring.

3 - Weight Loss - Another symptom that can be a symptom of other issues such as stress or simply by beginning a new exercise program in order to willingly lose unwanted weight.

4 - Constipation - If you are not eating right, therefore not getting enough fiber, you will probably suffer from constipation.

5 - Bleeding - This symptom may be a less common symptom for other medical issues so if you have any of the first four symptoms along with bleeding from the vaginal area, you should consult with your doctor or gynecologist.

As it was noted earlier, there really aren't any extremely noticeable ovary cancer symptoms that will indicate to a woman that she needs to have the issue addressed immediately. It is unfortunate that for this particular cancer, it can go unnoticed for an indefinite period of time. You have any concerns, please discuss them with your doctor.

Understanding the Inaccuracy of Ovarian Cancer Statistics

Cancer survival rate statistics and life expectancies are very misleading and quite inappropriate for several reasons. Certain types of cancer stats, like ovarian cancer for example, are even more absurd than many others.

One problem is they are a glimpse into the rear view mirror. They can not account for all the advances in modern medicine. If you think about it, all of these statistics show the mortality rates of ovarian cancer sufferers in the past. Anyone who died from the disease, did not have access to the most modern treatments of today. Cancer is a field with millions of rich world sufferers. World governments and large health corporations are pouring money into research for political and economic reasons. There is accelerated growth in knowledge.

A second concern is that ovarian cancer is not as common as some other ones. The statistics are less relevant than lung cancer due to the fact that there is less data to start with.

Each cancer is different in nature. Even if the doctor tells you are in stage 4, there is still a lot of difference amongst members in that group. Not all stage 4 people are really the same. It is just a simple way to give you a rough idea of which boat you are in.

Another issue with the stats is that they do not differentiate between people who are in different emotional states. There is some evidence that a positive outlook can add years to a patient's life. Mind/body medicine is becoming even more mainstream in the west. A negative outlook can cause a patient to almost kill themselves because this traumatic diagnoses causes the body to release large amounts of cortisol, a damaging stress hormone.

Information About Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is actually more than one form of cancer but they are all cancers which start in that area of the female reproductive organs known as the ovaries.

Unfortunately, ovarian cancer often has no noticeable symptoms in its early stages, allowing it to grow and develop for sometime before its victim becomes aware of it. When this cancer does begin to show symptoms, the symptoms are usually such things as the person becoming very tired easily, having a bloated stomach, feeling nauseous a good part of the time and being inflicted with either diarrhea or constipation.

Although other problems can cause these same symptoms, it is important that a woman should immediately be checked out by a doctor to find out what the problem is. It may not be this cancer, but then again it may be and the sooner it is caught and dealt with, the better.

Women who have had breast cancer or who have family members who have had some form of cancer are more apt to have ovarian cancer than women who have not had breast cancer or who have no family members with a history of cancer.

It has also been noted that women who have had children, especially those that have had them young, are less apt to develop ovarian cancer than those who have not had children.

The majority of the women who develop this cancer are those in their early senior years, ages fifty-five and up.

Because of the nature of ovarian cancer not to show symptoms in its earliest stages, in the majority of cases the presence of ovarian cancer necessitates what is known as a total hysterectomy, that is the total removal of the ovaries. After this, the person is usually treated aggressively with chemotherapy, that is chemicals that kill cancer cells.

Very rarely radiation is also used after surgery for this cancer. This treatment is one that can be done very quickly if it is determined that it is needed.

Treatment for this cancer is often followed by medications given to help the person maintain her femininity.

Unfortunately, these medications often have their own side effects, so it is important that the person use them only as long as they are necessary and keep her doctor appraised of any changes or problems noticed.

After being treated for this cancer, the person is able to live a normal, active lifestyle. It is important to that she eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise.

Each year a large number of women are victims of this cancer but also, with aggressive treatment many women are also over comers of ovarian cancer.

Cancer Treatment Made Possible by Homeopathy

The treatment of cancer with homeopathic medicines is very unique. Medicines used are diluted to an extent that the ingredients or molecules with which the medicines are made up of are left out insignificantly. But it is believed in Homeopathy that the substances leave their imprint and that stimulates the body to heal itself from cancers.

Immunotherapy is the basic principle underlying treatment with homeopathic medicines. What happens is that actions and reactions are triggered within the body cells to fight back the cancerous growths. As the body kills the malignant cells these are removed through the lymphatic system. Hence, as healing takes place the patients are completely cured from the disease.

It is also true that the Cancer -healer therapy practiced by homeopathic Cancer physicians has attained newer heights for the developments in the field of research that has taken place over years. Now, healing procedures are better understood and cure takes place more quickly than it used to be earlier.

As confusion about treatment methods have receded, patients' reliance on homeopathic medicines too is growing rationally. This is why people are admitting themselves in Cancer treatment hospitals for they know that it is only here that they can find proper treatment and remedy for this fatal disease.

There are numerous cases of successful cancer cure that homeopathic practitioners have seen recently. They have been able to unravel the magical curing powers of homeopathic medicines. This is why patients believe in possible cure of cancer with the intake of regular doses of medicines and staying under the observance of a good homeopathic practitioner.

Cancer Healer Center is one of the best prevailing medicines in treating Cancer patients with highest success rates and no side effects.

Cervical Cancer Vaccinations Not Only for Teens

A few years ago it was believed that cervical cancer vaccinations are more needed by teens and younger generations who are more actively involved with sex. But, nowadays the HPV vaccine is being used for women who are 24 to 45 for those who are not infected by human papillomavirus causing cervical cancer or other cervical diseases. This can be attributed to late marriage for women and increase divorce rates which have led to the increase of women having sexual relationships in middle age with other partners.

The study as conducted on 3,200 women, between 24 and 45. They have no history of cervical cancer or genital warts. Women were given the quadrivalent HPV vaccine or placebo. After about 2.2 years, researchers found that there were four infected cases among those who are vaccinated and 41 cases in the placebo group. This concludes that the vaccine was almost fully effective against the virus strains mainly 6, 11, 16, 18.

When the HPV types of 16 and 18 were considered, researchers came up with four cases in the vaccinated group and twenty three in placebo. This suggests that success rate was 83 percent against those 2 HPV types.

The result was as lower as thirty percent for the mixed group, i.e. the women who have HPV infection or related disease. Nonetheless, cervical cancer vaccination is an effective way for treatment of women younger and older to eliminate the cancerous cells from the body. For further complications, go to the nearest health provider and consult doctor. Doctor may suggest you about consequences of HPV vaccinations for aged women.

An Introduction To Cancer Of The Cervix

Cervical cancer is a dangerous chronic disease affecting women. It is caused by a group of viruses commonly known as HPV. This virus is transmitted via sexual intercourse. Even without treatment many women naturally fight off the disease using their immune system. However there are known risk factors that increase the chance of women getting cancer of the cervix. These risk factors include HIV infection. This particularly weakens the immune system of the woman leading to the development of the disease. Smoking tobacco cigarettes and having many children are also import risk factors of the disease. Tobacco is known to carry cancer causing substances called carcinogens. These are known to affect DNA in cells leading to the development of not only cervical cancer but other cancers as well such as lung, mouth and throat cancers.

In terms of prevalence, cervical cancer kills on average 4000 women per year. In the year 2007 over 12 000 women were diagnosed with cancer of the cervix in the United States. Overall over the last four to five decades the prevalence of the disease has sharply declined by as much as 70 percent. This is attributed to the scientific advancement in dealing with the disease as well as the introduction of the Pap test.
